Sagebrush Quilt Guild News

Sagebrush Quilt Guild members are gearing up for another great annual quilt show.  This show is being held August 4th, 5th, and 6th.  Doors of the White Pine County Middle School Gymnasium will open at 9:00 a.m. and close at 4:00 p.m.   This year’s show is being co-sponsored by the Sagebrush Quilt Guild and White Pine County School District.  Mrs. Donna Gubler is the chairman of this event.

This year’s quilt challenge was developed by Mrs. Pat Bernd.  She taught the quilters a different technique called “Stack and Whack.” Several different quilts were produced using this interesting pattern.  Many colorful creations will be displayed at the quilt show.  As always, there are a plethora of other interesting quilts making their way to the White Pine Middle School. There will be quilters available all each day, to answer questions and give advice on quilting projects.

This year the guild has added an additional attraction.  On Saturday and Sunday at noon, there will be a trunk show.  Everyone in the community is invited to come and show quilts to the audience.  These quilts may be made by you, given to you, or passed down in your family.  Please come and tell us about the quilt, its history, and what it means to you.  The trunk show will last as long as there are people to exhibit their family heirlooms and an audience to see them.

The Sagebrush Quilt Guild is a group of people of all ages who get together weekly to quilt, laugh, and enjoy each other’s company.  They meet every Thursday evening at 4:00 p.m. in the basement of the Episcopal Church at 209 West 7th Street in Ely.  They also meet for “all-day quilting” every second Saturday of each month.  They welcome everyone from beginners to professionals. Everyone in the guild is willing to answer questions, help beginners, and learn new techniques.   For further information, call Margaret Thiel at .
